We like to organize our trip to Nepal as an individual private trip. With a German-speaking guide you will actively and individually discover unique mountain landscapes in the foothills of the Annapurna Massif, mixed with a highly interesting culture. Unforgettable experiences away from large streams of visitors make the journey a unique experience. Immerse yourself in the wonder world in the Himalayas – Nepal. A journey for mountain, animal and culture lovers through one of the most beautiful countries in Asia. Nepal is a land of contrasts. At a distance of only 200 km, you will experience the snow-capped, highest mountains in the world as far as the subtropical lowland of the Terai on the Indian border. The highlight of our trip is a 7-day Himalayan trekking tour in the foothills of the Annapurna Massive, with easy day hikes and a walking time of 4 – 6 hours daily. This unusual tour takes us to an area that gives us unique panoramas of the Himalayan mountains. Close enough to touch, we admire the mighty Giants of the Himalayas with the snow-covered Annapurna massif (8,091 m), the Dhaulagiri massif (8,167 m) and Machapuchare (6,993 m). The daily sections are unproblematic and mountaineering knowledge is not required. The hikes are to be mastered for every mountain lover with average condition. The luggage transport is taken over by porters, the participants carry only a light day baggage. Another highlight of the trip is a visit to the Chitwan National Park in the lowlands of the Terai. It was founded in 1973 as a sanctuary for the endangered rhinos and in 1984 declared a national park by UNESCO. On the back of tame elephants, we roam through the jungle. The reserve is home to rhinos, deer, wild boars, crocodiles, alligators, river dolphins, tigers, leopards and more than 400 species of birds. The ancient imperial cities of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur are Nepal’s cultural heritage. They are pearls of architecture. Between temples, pagodas, stupas, palaces, bazaars and markets we move in another world.

Highlights

Highlights of Sikles

  1. Cultural Richness – Sikles is predominantly inhabited by the Gurung people, known for their warm hospitality, vibrant festivals, and traditional dances like Ghatu and Sorathi.

  2. Stunning Mountain Views – The village offers panoramic views of Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other snow-capped peaks.

  3. Terraced Fields & Forests – Surrounded by terraced farmlands and rhododendron forests, Sikles is a paradise for nature lovers.

  4. Off-the-Beaten-Path Trekking – Unlike the crowded trails of Ghorepani or ABC, Sikles remains a peaceful alternative for trekkers seeking solitude.

  5. Homestay Experience – Visitors can stay in local homes, enjoying organic meals and learning about Gurung traditions firsthand.

Why the Altitude Matters

  • Easy Acclimatization – Unlike high-altitude treks (e.g., Everest Base Camp), Sikles poses little risk of altitude sickness, making it great for beginners.

  • Pleasant Weather – The elevation ensures cool summers and crisp winters, with temperatures rarely dropping below freezing.

  • Panoramic Mountain Views – At nearly 2,000m, Sikles offers unobstructed views of Annapurna II (7,937m), Lamjung Himal (6,983m), and Machhapuchhre (6,993m).

Comparison with Nearby Destinations

  • Pokhara (827m) – Sikles is significantly higher, offering cooler air and alpine scenery.

  • Ghorepani (2,850m) – Sikles is lower but equally scenic, with fewer crowds.

  • Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) – Sikles is a gentler alternative for those avoiding extreme altitudes.

Best Time to Visit (Based on Altitude & Climate)

  • Spring (March-May) – Mild temperatures (10-25°C), blooming rhododendrons.

  • Autumn (Sept-Nov) – Clear skies, ideal for mountain views (daytime 15-20°C).

  • Winter (Dec-Feb) – Chilly (0-15°C), but sunny with fewer tourists.

Map & Itinerary

Already at the Tribhuvan airport in Kathmandu the tour guide awaits us and accompanies us to our hotel in Thamel. Depending on the arrival time we have the opportunity to explore the surrounding area with the old town.
Hotel (F)
Our first destination in the morning is the temple complex Pashupatinath. It is the most important Hindu sanctuary in Nepal and therefore the destination of countless pilgrims and sadhus. The sadhus are ascetics who, like their model Shiva, pile their long hair into a knot on their heads and smoke ganja and hashish to deepen their meditation. At the Surya Ghat, the deceased are burned on special platforms. From the other side of the river, we have the opportunity to observe a combustion ceremony. In the afternoon we drive to Bodhnath, about 5 km outside the city center of Kathmandu. The stupa of Bodhnath is the largest of its kind in the world and since 1959 the central pilgrimage site of the Tibetan exiles in Nepal. We have the opportunity to explore this religious center around the stupa and visit Buddhist monasteries. Afterwards we visit the main square Durbar Square in the old town Kathmandu. He was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Over 50 wooden carved temples and monuments can be admired here. Here is also the Kumari Bahai, the temple of the living goddess Kumari, which you will also visit.
Hotel (F)
Visit to the ancient royal city of Patan, also called “City of Beauty”. Patan is the oldest city in the Kathmandu Valley and is considered the cradle of art and the center of Newar architecture. The focal points are the buildings, the numerous temple groups on Durbar Square with the magnificent Royal Palace. We can see the many pagodas and statues, admire the richly decorated facades and roam the small streets. Then continue to Bhaktapur. It is a fascinating, ancient city characterized by a medieval atmosphere. The well-preserved, restored cityscape is unique and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will visit the Royal Palace, Durbar Square with its many temples, stone guardians and the Golden Gate. We visit the highest pagoda in Nepal, the Nyatapola. Five-level, he dominated the picture at Taumadhi Tol, the center of Newarkultur in Bhaktapur with the five paired set up temple guards. Behind the temple are piled up parts of the procession car for the Bisket festival (New Year’s festival). Next we walk through the small streets to the potter’s place.
Hotel (F)
After breakfast, we will drive by private car towards Pokhara, the second largest city in Nepal. We move into our hotel in “Lakeside” of Pokhara. In good weather we will be overwhelmed by the sight of the Annapurna massif and the snow-capped peak of the Macchapucchares. We can take a boat trip on Lake Phewa or enjoy the view in one of the many cafes on the shores of Lake Phewa.
